The Farm

All Ostrich Farms in England have to be licensed by the local authority and inspected by an independent Vet.

At Oslinc we are proud of our husbandry and welcome visitors to the farm shop.

  Ostrich

We have 27 Breeding Ostriches at White House Farm which are kept in Trios - one male to two females. Each trio has its own field, surrounded by hedgerows.

This is 'Clint' (named after Clint Eastwood) one of our large breeders.

  Ostrich egg incubators

The females lay their eggs in a sand pit in the middle of each field, one egg every other day during the season, these are collected around 4pm each afternoon March thru September and put in our state of the art incubators.

 Ostrich chick

Six weeks later the chicks hatch - they are the size of a small chicken.

 Ostrich nursery

Once hatched they are transferred to our specialist Ostrich Nursery, and are carefully looked after by the family. They are put into groups of between 10 and 12 and stay in this family group for the rest of their lives.

 Ostriches in the fields

At three months old the Ostriches are transferred into the surrounding fields. Here they live, peacefully grazing in the Lincolnshire countryside, with field shelters and ample fresh water and feed supply.

We are dedicated to ensuring all our animals enjoy a contented and stress free life.
